Darren’s diverse background includes more than 17 years of experience in providing tax consulting, compliance, accounting and business advice to closely held owner-operated businesses as well as large multi-national corporations.

As a member of the Northwest Research Credit Study Practice for one of the largest accounting firms in the US, this allowed him to become a specialist in providing research tax credit studies for federal and state jurisdictions as well as cost segregation studies for entities that have purchased buildings, constructed new buildings (including hotels and office buildings), and food processing facilities (including wineries and cold storage facilities). Darren has been providing research credit services to taxpayers since 1998. His specialized knowledge of the intricacies of the research credit allow him to obtain essential information to develop customized approaches tailored to the needs of the client.

Darren spent eight years working for two large national accounting firms in Portland, OR, supervising and reviewing large consolidated corporate, partnership, and individual, and LLC tax compliance engagements. Darren also supervised and reviewed research projects using code, regulations, and case law, including mergers and acquisitions, state tax analysis, employee benefits, and entity formation.

Darren has worked with companies in many industries, including high technology, consumer, industrial, manufacturing, and forest products; software developers, transportation, agricultural, and food processing. Darren has successfully completed research and development studies for companies in the following industries: roofing products, forest products, software development, biotechnology, mining products, food manufacturing processes and agriculture chemical development.

Darren holds a Masters of Accounting from Washington State University and a B.S. in Accounting from Brigham Young University. Darren is a member of the AICPA and WSCPA and is licensed to practice in the state of Washington. Darren is on the board of the Benton Franklin United Way, Benton Franklin County Boys & Girls Club and the Central Chapter of the WSCPA.
